Reviewers Wanted!!!

Professor Woodrow Winchester III, Virginia Tech, and I are serving as program chairpersons of the Student Forum for the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society’s (HFES) 52nd Annual Meeting to be held 22-26 September 2008 in New York City. To qualify, you must be either an advanced graduate student (in at least the 2nd year of graduate study) or a working professional, and have attended the HFES annual meeting at least once in the past five (5) years. (This qualification can be relaxed if you have written and presented your research at other HF related conferences.) Prior experience reviewing or submitting manuscripts to the HFES annual meeting is valuable but not mandatory.

In order to populate our database of potential reviewers, and to match individuals up with submissions relevant to their areas of expertise, please send the following to the Student Forum chairs (Sandra Garrett – garrett@clemson.edu, and Woodrow Winchester, III – wwwinche@vt.edu ):

1. Name (First and Last)

2. Contact information (Institution, e-mail address, phone number)

3. Current role (i.e. student- specify MS or PhD, or professional)

If a student, please provide your advisor’s name and school affiliation

4. How many HFES annual meetings have you attended over the past 5 years?

5. How many total?

6. Have you submitted manuscripts to the HFES annual meeting in previous years? Y/N

If Yes, how many manuscripts?

7. Have you helped review manuscripts for the HFES annual meeting in previous years? Y/N

If Yes, how many years?

8. What areas (topics) would you feel most comfortable reviewing for? (Each reviewer will be assigned about 3 manuscripts so topic preferences will be matched when possible, but you may still be assigned a topic outside those areas.)

Please note that HFES uses a web-based submission and review system so the entire process can be conducted online. Reviewing will begin in about two (2) weeks (early February 2008) with reviews due in late February 2008.

Thanking you in advance for your service to the profession.

Warmest of Regards,

Sandra Garrett & Woodrow W. Winchester, III
